Oh, interesting question here!

Those who know me and have talked to me personally have probably all heard me say that this fandom has some of the greatest quality fan content I have ever seen out of any fandom.

Voice acting is no exception.

The voice actors I know and have had the opportunity to work with are among the best I’ve ever heard online. And everyone I admire that I haven’t worked with… well, my friends have. And it still amazes me the sheer talent that you can see crop up from this sort of thing.

Yes, I do make jabs at the voice acting scene every now and then, but that’s because there is a LOT to make fun of in general. A lot of the stuff like mistakes we all make when starting out, project drama, the types of incompetent people you’ll run into now and then.

Whenever I’m making fun of voice acting it’s something like a caricature of the negative things I know voice actors deal with.

“Hi, I am a tumblr voice actor, my triggers include comments on mic quality and allusions to a reality where I am not perfect.” is something I say a lot, and anyone who’s done any voice acting around tumblr or otherwise on the internet have run into that one guy, or those few guys who act like that, and we all know it can bug people who are open to critique and improvement.

And really, every group of people trying at a skill, be it art, music, voice acting, or what have you, has those people, I just like to joke to myself and hope other people can relate to it. It doesn’t mean I’m elitist and I think everyone else is a prick except for me, because when saying “voice actor” I am fully including myself in those generalizations. I’ve made the same mistakes sometimes before. It’s like the usual self deprecation humor, just on a broader scale, and people who are good sports know the deal. 

All in all though, there’s some talented motherfuckers out there and I’m so glad I got into this and got to meet so many amazing people.
